Reflection on the WORD

Witnessing: In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us of our mission to witness to God’s Truth and Will.  We should pray for the courage and wisdom to live the Gospel and the Teachings of the Church with pride and joy.  Jesus assures us that we will receive great reward for what we share and serve for God’s Greater Glory.

Mk 4:21-25

Jesus said to the crowd, ‘Is a lamp brought in to be put under a tub or under the bed? Surely to be put on the lamp-stand? For there is nothing hidden, but it must be disclosed, nothing kept secret except to be brought to light. Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!’

He also said to them, ‘Take notice of what you are hearing. The standard you use will be used for you -- and you will receive more besides; anyone who has, will be given more; anyone who has not, will be deprived even of what he has.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •‘Anyone who has, will be given more ...’ Am I aware of all the gifts that God has given me? What are some of them?
  • •We show our gratitude to God for the gifts He has given us by using them for God’s service. Am I grateful for the gifts in my life? Am I using them for God’s service?
  • •What is the one gift that God would be calling me to use for building His Kingdom at the present moment in my life? How can I respond to His call?
