Reflection on the WORD

Signs of Strong Faith: In today’s Gospel, Jesus commissioned His disciples to proclaim the Good News of Salvation to all peoples.  Those of us who embrace the Gospel of Jesus will have hearts that are free from fears, insecurities and envy.  Jesus will fill our hearts with His Presence and Peace.

Mk 16:15-18

Jesus showed himself to the Eleven said to them, ‘Go out to the whole world; proclaim the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned.

‘These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •In today’s Gospel, Jesus assures all peoples that the believers of the Good News of Salvation will be saved if they live His Gospel values in their daily life.
  • •One of the biggest challenges of following Jesus is to entrust our lives and all that happens to us in His Providence and thus, be detached from the material security of the secular world. This is not easy but the Holy Spirit will give us the wisdom and strength to live in God’s Love and Ways.
  • •Jesus loves us dearly and wants us to be with Him for eternity with His Father and all the saints. Do you wish this of yourself?  How is the Holy Spirit prompting your heart about this truth?
