Reflection on the WORD

Jesus - Divinity: In today’s Gospel of John, Jesus is truly the Divine Word that existed for all times with God the Creator and in the Spirit.  Ponder on the awe-filled Beauty, Perfection and Oneness in the entire universe, and all the human persons, created in God’s Image and Likeness out of Love.

Jn 1:1-10

In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things came into being, not one thing came into being except through him. What has come into being in him was life, life that was the light of men; and light shines in darkness, and darkness could not overpower it.

A man came, sent by God. His name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness to the light, so that everyone might believe through him. He was not the light, he was to bear witness to the light. The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world. He was in the world that had come into being through him, and the world did not recognise him.

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • •In today’s Gospel, St John reveals “The Word” as “The Creative Life-Giver” of all that exists and the “True Light” that dispel the darkness of sin in the world.
  • •Christians never cease to marvel at the great mystery of the Son of God becoming one like us in all things but sin.
  • •Ponder on this “Truth” of Jesus the Christ-Child. Allow the Spirit of God to enlighten your hearts to see how everything in this world is bathed in God’s Light, but have been dulled by our sinful ways. How open am I to see the reality of this Truth permeating every being; including my heart and home?
