Reflection on the WORD
Vigilance: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed the Second Coming of the Son of God and urged us to live our faith with vigilance. Ponder on, “Do we strive to live a more discerning faith of loving Jesus more personally? “Are we living our faith superficially until we face a crisis?”
Mk 10:46-52
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘In those days, after that time of distress, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give its light, the stars will come falling out of the sky and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory; Then too he will send the angels to gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the world to the ends of the sky.
‘Take the fig tree as a parable: as soon as its twigs grow supple and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. So with you when you see these things happening: know that he is near, right at the gates. In truth I tell you, before this generation has passed away all these things will have taken place. Sky and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
‘But as for that day or hour, nobody knows it, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son; no one but the Father.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus tells us that one thing is certain. This world that we live in will not last forever.
- While we do not now know the date or time for the second coming, the “signs” that we should pay particular attention to is whether we are living in God’s ways daily.
- If we are able to live in God’s ways fervently and daily, we will be at peace and even look with joyful hope for the fulfillment of all God's promises. Pray for the grace to be faithful to God at all times.
