Reflection on the WORD

Loving God: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed that our love and relationship with God is deeper than our biological relationships e.g. parents, families.  To love Jesus is to have the wisdom of life that brings the peace and joy that nothing and no one can give.  Pray to have a discerning heart to love Jesus daily.

Lk 11:27-28

As Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd raised her voice and said, ‘Blessed the womb that bore you and the breasts that fed you!’

But he replied, ‘More blessed still are those who hear the word of God and keep it!’

Today's Pointers on God's Word

As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Jesus’ reply complements His Mother as He knew perfectly well that she is the “most blessed” of all peoples and indeed the whole human race that His Father has created.
  • Through her life Mary teaches us and all believers and disciples of Christ to be attentive listeners of God’s Word and find strength in the Holy Spirit that is within us to live the Father’s Will at all times.
  • Our adoption as sons and daughters of God through Baptism transforms our identity and dignity to a new order of loyalty to God and His kingdom. Ponder on this and seek Mary’s intercession to live this truth daily.
