Reflection on the WORD
“Conditional Love”: In today’s Gospel, Jesus called those suitable to “follow Him.” Many give “excuses” and rejected His invitation. What about us? Reflect on our lives, “Are we willing to love and serve Jesus wholeheartedly or do we often find ‘excuses’ because our love for Him is weak?”
Lk 9:57-62
As Jesus and his disciples travelled along they met a man on the road who said to him, ‘I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus answered, ‘Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.’
Another to whom he said, ‘Follow me,’ replied, ‘Let me go and bury my father first.’ But he answered, ‘Leave the dead to bury their dead; your duty is to go and spread the news of the kingdom of God.’
Another said, ‘I will follow you, sir, but first let me go and say good -- bye to my people at home.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Once the hand is laid on the plough, no one who looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- Jesus told the man to detach himself from whatever that might hold him back in order to follow the path that God desires of him in his life.
- We are free to choose the path which Jesus offers but there are other paths that lead us away from God’s kingdom and His Ways. Continue to challenge yourself to be firm and focus each day to walk the path of Christ.
- This path demands sacrifice and taking up the crosses that will purify our devious and deceptive desires of the secular world offers. To live this is to spread the Good News of God’s Kingdom.
