Reflection on the WORD
“Loving Jesus”: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaimed the “Parable of the Sower” to the crowd to explain that GodLoves every person deeply and unconditionally. Do we love Jesus deeply too? Our “self-love” can become selfish, if we do not build our lives on Jesus, but on the insecurities of this world.
Lk 8:4-15
With a large crowd gathering and people from every town finding their way to him, Jesus told this parable: ‘A sower went out to sow his seed. Now as he sowed, some fell on the edge of the path and was trampled on; and the birds of the air ate it up. Some seed fell on rock, and when it came up it withered away, having no moisture. Some seed fell in the middle of thorns and the thorns grew with it and choked it. And some seed fell into good soil and grew and produced its crop a hundredfold.’
Saying this he cried, ‘Anyone who has ears for listening should listen!’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- This parable is actually more about the sower than the seed. In God’s generous bounty, sowers cast seed (God’s word) throughout the world, in every generation.
- Like laborers in the vineyard, God the Father never fails to send sowers. We are His sowers.
- Are we effective sowers? If yes, how do I live this? If no, what are the reasons causing this? Pray for divine assistance to cause the seeds that we sow to fall on fertile soil.
