Reflection on the WORD
Selfless Love: In today’s Gospel, Jesus proclaims that “unless a wheat grain falls to the earth and dies, it remains a single grain, but if it dies it yields a rich harvest.” Do we have a faith that is willing to love and serve God selflessly, generously and humbly as Jesus has shown us? Are we life-giving or self-serving in the practice of our faith?
Jn 12:24-26
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘In all truth I tell you, unless a wheat grain falls into the earth and dies, it remains only a single grain; but if it dies it yields a rich harvest.
‘Anyone who loves his life loses it; anyone who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me, must follow me, and my servant will be with me wherever I am. If anyone serves me, my Father will honour him.’

Today's Pointers on God's Word
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- There is a constant challenge to want to be a faithful follower of Jesus and our interior struggle of being attracted by the glory and glamour of the secular society.
- However, deep within us, we know that there is only one authentic way of living; we cannot have both.
- A true disciple of Jesus is one who is life-giving. Thus, we have to learn to choose to live in Jesus’ ways at all times: the way of the Cross demands our “dying to ourselves – our pride” daily so that the Christ within us can “surface” and shine forth to others.
