Lord, grant us grace to seek out the lost, the lonely and the unloved, the most vulnerable in society, and integrate them back to their families and communities

Phil 4:10-19; Ps 111 (112):1-2, 5-6, 8, 9; Lk 16:9-15 (Ps Wk III)
Today, Jesus exhorts those who have made great wealth via dishonest means to learn how to share it with the poor, and earn a place in heaven for their generosity. What about us who are called to be stewards of God’s resources on earth? What disposition and attitude should we have with regards to the use of wealth and possessions which are gifts given to us freely by a generous God?
Are we going to use them for the greater glory of God, transforming them into eternal, spiritual investments by directing it towards charity and love of our neighbours, or for selfish gain, greed and exploitation of the poor? The answer depends on who is the master we serve – God or Money.
God knows our heart and sees the true motives of our action. A faithful steward of worldly resources would prioritise love of God and neighbour over the love of money, as divided allegiance between divine love and material greed are impossible.
Discipleship involves spiritual integrity such as trustworthiness, honesty and responsibility over small matters which proves that we can be trusted with true riches of grace and eternal life. When wealth becomes the centre of our lives, it acts as a distraction that pulls us away from a deep union with God.
We can also learn from St Paul how he lived free from the attachments to wealth and material things and that his joy was rooted in the love and knowledge of Christ Who empowered him.
PRAYER Lord, help me to serve You alone.
