Is my faith a matter of noble words or of concrete deeds?

We often profess beliefs with our lips, yet our lives whisper a different story or sometimes even shout aloud an opposite way of life. Is my faith a matter of noble words or of concrete deeds?
In Ezekiel, God challenges our flawed logic. He judges not by our past failures but by the present orientation of our hearts. Meanwhile, St Paul presents the ultimate antidote to empty rhetoric – the kenosis of Christ. Jesus did not merely speak of love; He emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming obedient even unto death. This is the highest standard of integrity.
Jesus’ parable of the two sons should cut us to the heart. The first son, defiant in word, repents and acts. The second, pious in speech, remains inactive. We are all tempted to be the second son, offering God beautiful promises while clinging to our comforts.
The call is clear – our “yes” to God must be concretised in action. True kindness is not a mere sentiment, but a great sacrifice. Genuine generosity is not a promise but a presence. A helpful life is not a plan but a practice.
We are invited to the humility of Christ, Who did not consider equality with God, something to be grasped, but instead, became the slave of all. Let our actions be the honest translation of our prayers. May our lives become the undeniable proof that our “yes” to God is real.
PRAYER Jesus, help me to be like You in word and deed.
