The writer of Proverbs was sharing some wisdom with the people of Israel – wisdom that is applicable to today as well. We all know that the word or message of God is true, and we should not be adding anything to God’s words. For the writer says, “Every word of God is unalloyed.” This means that it is pure, or unmixed with anything else. The word “unalloyed” describes something that is absolute and free from any inferior elements, negative influences, or adulteration.
Over the years many people and groups have misinterpreted the Word of God and added to it. This results in misunderstandings of what God intended. We need to adhere to the truth of God’s Word and follow God’s leading.
Jesus commissioned the twelve disciples. His instructions were simple but not easy to follow. Their lifestyle was to be simple – they were to take nothing with them, but were to stay in the homes of others. There were only two things that they were commissioned to do – proclaim the kingdom of God and heal people. Jesus gave them power and authority to heal people and to proclaim God’s Word.
Like the Twelve, we are also commissioned by our Lord to proclaim the kingdom of God by our words and by the way in which we live – the way that we treat others can be very healing for them.
PRAYER Lord, continue to lead me in Your path.
