The Heart of Christ Loved Us First
Scripture:
We love because he first loved us. (1 Jn 4:19)
Reflection:
Before any effort of ours, we are already loved by God, for God takes the initiative to love. This truth grounds our identity as a loved child of God, not in any achievements of ours, but in grace. The Sacred Heart of Jesus reminds us that God’s love is real and always takes the first step to reach out to us; it’s not a response. Each day, we can begin anew not by striving harder but by receiving more deeply. Let this love of God soften our fears and quiet our need to prove ourselves. In prayer, simply remain with God who already loves you.
Prayer:
O my Jesus, I love You because You first love us.
Standing before this great love of Yours, I ask for (name your request here).

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place all my trust in you.

You care for us when we are lost, sympathise with us in loneliness and comfort us in mourning; You are closest to us when we are weakest. You reach out Your hand to us when we stumble and have most need of Your help. I ask You to listen to my prayer during this Novena, and grant what I ask. …
If what I ask is not for my own or other’s good, grant me always what is best, that I may build Your kingdom of love in our world. Amen.
