Lord, grant me the grace of humility to receive your message of love, fully and wholeheartedly
8th Week in Ordinary Times : Saturday, 30th May 2026
Jude 1:17, 20-25; Ps 62 (63):2-6; Mk 11:27-33 (Ps Wk IV)
A Catch-22 situation is a paradoxical, no-win situation where a person cannot avoid a problem because of contradictory rules or limitations. The chief priests and elders tried to entrap Jesus but it was the Lord who turned the tables, putting them into a Catch-22 situation. They could not admit that the Lord’s message was divine or human, the former out of pride and the latter out of fear of the crowds. They asked about the Lord’s authority for teaching, questioning Him about the origins of His message. This question should not even have emerged if they had listened carefully to what Jesus had to say, understanding the man and the message fully.
The beauty of the Lord’s message is that it comes from someone who is both God and human, translating and transforming the divine message into something that we human persons can understand. There is no confusion or contradiction in the message if we receive it with humility and grace, not accepting it out of fear but because it’s something that we truly desire.
And when we look deeper into the message of love that the Lord brings to us, we realise how straightforward the message is. We receive God’s love because it’s freely given to us without complication or limitation. And that’s the truth. We pray for the grace of humility to receive the Lord’s message of love fully and wholeheartedly.
PRAYER: God, I pray with my faith as my foundation, and in the Holy Spirit, so that I may grow in my relationship with You.
