Reflection on the WORD

“Deepest Relationship – God”: Jesus reminds us that even as we love our parents, spouse, children, relatives etc deeply, our “deepest and most important relationship is with God. Ponder on, “When we focus on loving God and deepening our relationship with Him, all our other relationships will be lived in God’s Presence, Peace and Purpose. And, this is living a holy life”.

Luke 8:19-21

The mother and brothers of Jesus came looking for him, but they could not get to him because of the crowd. He was told, ‘Your mother and brothers are standing outside and want to see you.’

But he said in answer, ‘My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and put it into practice.’

  • The deepest bond of friendship is when a relationship is founded on trying to love God fully as Jesus has shown us through the Good News of salvation.  
  • Jesus exemplifies this when He affirmed that His bond of relationship with His mother is deeper through their fidelity to God’s Will than through human mother and child relationship. 
  • Our Christian community of believers should witness to our union with one another in the Lord through our love, care and concern for each other’s needs and the needs of the poor and marginalized of our secular society.
