Mark 10:13-16
People were bringing little children to Jesus, for him to touch them. The disciples scolded them, but when Jesus saw this he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs. In truth I tell you, anyone who does not welcome the kingdom of Godlike a little child will never enter it.’
Then he embraced them, laid his hands on them and gave them his blessing.
TODAY'S POINTERS ON GOD'S WORD
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?
- In today’s Gospel Jesus rebukes His disciples for hindering little children from coming to Him for His blessings. Jesus’ clearly shows that God has a special preferential love for children.
- All of us are important to God. In particular, Jesus wants us to relate to children with greater compassion and tender love regardless of who they are – our own, the poor and those who are physically, emotionally and mentally disadvantaged.
- Whenever we reach out to children with God’s love, the Spirit will give us the wisdom of child-like simplicity and humility and other virtues to draw them closer to God.
