Daily Word Of God

St Scholastica, virgin
Luke 10:38-42

In the course of their journey Jesus came to a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. She had a sister called Mary, who sat down at the Lord's feet and listened to him speaking.

Now Martha, who was distracted with all the serving, came to him and said, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister is leaving me to do the serving all by myself? Please tell her to help me.’

But the Lord answered, ‘Martha, Martha,’ he said, ‘you worry and fret about so many things, and yet few are needed, indeed only one. It is Mary who has chosen the better part, and it is not to be taken from her.’

TODAY'S POINTERS ON GOD'S WORD
As you read the passage what words, phases or meanings caught your attention?

  • Often, in our attempt to serve God, we join various ministries in order to do His Will. All these are good and important .
  • However, our deeds must also be supported by a meaningful prayerful life so that our deeds are also connected to God whom we love and serve .

  • We need to find time, like Mary, to listen and reflect on God’s word. If we do this and develop a meaningful prayer life, we will begin to find the presence and peace of God that gives us the deeper meaning to our daily living and services .
