Profession of Jesuit Final Vows by Fr Emanuel Lim, S.J.

Fr Emanuel Lim, S.J. pronounced his Final Vows to the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) before Regional Superior Fr Colin Tan,SJ. These vows include a renewal of his vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, as well as a special vow of obedience to the Pope regarding availability for missions.

Fr Emanuel Lim, S.J., a Singaporean. was ordained a Jesuit Priest at the Church of St Ignatius, Singapore. During his priestly ordination, he touched many hearts and brought a tear to many (including his mother) when he asked for a chair to seat his mother at the foot of the altar, knelt before her and bowed down to her in the tradition of a Chinese kow-tow (to express filial piety) to thank his mother and then proceeded to give his first priestly blessings to his mother.

Fr Emanuel Lim, S.J. is currently the Moderator of Chinese Programmes Broadcast at Vatican Radio (the voice of the Pope and the Church in dialogue with the world), Rome.
