… I was inspired by the freedom which St Ignatius and the present day Jesuits embraced to serve God’s people.

I first felt the call when I read the story of St Ignatius’ life, of how he left everything behind to follow Christ. I was then a student in senior high school. I liked Ignatius’ idea of Jesuits being a company of friends in and serving the Lord. The selfless generosity, availability and courage of the Jesuits who helped my people during the East Timorese crisis in the late 1990s also inspired me greatly to join.
